Türkçede “sırasında” ya da “boyunca” anlamına gelebilecek sözcüktür. Bir edattır. Kullanımı oldukça kolaydır. Genelde cümlenin sonunda kullanılır çünkü İngilizcede, zaman zarfları, cümlenin sonunda tercih edilir. Fakat tabii ki cümlenin başka yerlerine de gelmesi mümkündür. Eğer cümlenin sonunda değilse, genellikle cümlenin başına gelir.

Mary was really anxious during her pregnancy.
He was really tired during the match.
Emma is usually at home during the day.
The restaurant is closed during the quiet winter season.
During the funeral, Carmen stayed by his side.

"During" ve " For" edatlarının karışması mümkündür fakat aralarında oldukça açık bir fark vardır. "During" süreç boyunca herhangi bir andan bahsederken "for" bütün süreç boyunca anlamına gelir.

They went to Florida during the winter. (Kışın, herhangi bir zaman aralığında, Florida’ya gitmişler.)
They went to Florida for the winter. (Tüm kış boyunca Florida’da kalmışlar.)

We were in the cinema for three and a half hours.
Our flight to New York was delayed for seven hours.
We went to Italy for a week.
He always goes to his mother’s house for New Year.
